Coaching Staff
The Coaching Staff is responsible for training and development of team swimmers. Activities cover a full range of training and competition. In particular, the coaching staff:
Conducts practices, arranging appropriate workout schedules to teach all racing strokes and techniques and to develop stamina.
Establishes, with approval of the Board, team practice times.
Attends swim meets.
Represents swimmers at meets, particularly when difficulties arise.
Provides critiques of performances and encourages swimmers.
Establishes and enforces rules for swimmer conduct at practices.
Maintains general discipline (includes suspension and dismissals with Board concurrence).
Contributes to overall improvement of the team by consulting and cooperating with the swim team Board, other coaches, and the AMS swim committee.
Head Coach, Lucas MarsakThis is Lucas’s 10th year as a coach. He started his coaching career at Garden City Swim Club in Monroeville, PA where he was born and raised. For two years he was an assistant coach under Chris Webb and then became the head coach for two years. At Garden City, he led the team to its first undefeated season and Division II Championship. Lucas took that experience to head coach at Murrysville Swim Club for three years.
As a swimmer, he trained under Dan McCarthy in high school, a multiple winner of AMS coach of the year, at Woodland Hills Aquatic Club. While swimming for Dan, Lucas qualified for Eastern Zones and Junior Nationals. He also competed for Gateway High School where he was a WPIAL Champion, State Finalist, and school record holder.
Lucas is a graduate from Denison University with a double major in Educational Studies and Communication. At Denison, Lucas swam under Greg Parini, a Division III National Coach of the Year who has led his teams to a National Championship and several runner-up performances. Lucas was a conference finalist and National Qualifier.
Lucas is entering his 6th year as the head coach of FAST. During that time he has coached Sectional Qualifiers, multiple Eastern Zone Qualifiers, and an AMS Swimmer of the Year. There have also been over 30 all-time FAST records broken during his tenure. He is excited for the season and looks forward helping make this be the best year yet for FAST.

Assistant Coach, Jodi Eyles Horvath
Jodi grew up in Murrysville and therefore grew up as a FAST member from 1974-1982. As a member of FAST, she qualified for the Junior and Senior Nationals. She was a 3 time PA High School State Champion, and she was a Jr. National Champion in the 50 free and the 100 fly. She held the Jr. National record in the 100 fly for 11 years! She was ranked 9th in the world in 50 free and 8th in 100 fly in 1982. Jodi received a full scholarship to the University of Texas where she was a member of a 4 time Division 1 National Championship Team and she was a 22 Time Division 1 All-American. She was selected for the 1983 US National Team. Jodi qualified and competed in the 1984 Olympic Trials and got a 10th place finish in the 100 fly. She was also selected to the US National Team that competed at the 1987 World University Games in Zagreb, Yugoslavia where she won a gold and bronze medal. Jodi has been coaching at various swim clubs in PA from 1990-present. Look for "J Eyles" on the record board at our pool--that’s our Jodi!
Assistant Coach, Jake Graham
Jake attended Edinboro University where he majored in Health and Physical Education. He swam for 4 years and was nominated as captain his senior year. Jake qualified for the conference champs in the 100 and 200 breast for 3 years and swam the 200 and 400 IM as well. Hobbies..... Jake enjoys kayaking, camping, and CrossFit training.
Jake is very excited for this swim season and can't wait to help pursue excellence at every level. LET'S GO FAST! WAHOOOOOOOOO!!!
